Veg Chow Mein

Veg Chow Mein is a very tasty and popular stir-fried vegetable noodle dish. It’s also one of the most popular street foods in a lot of countries. A quick and easy dinner recipe that just take around 20 mins to prepare. Not only is this recipe quick, but you really do end up with restaurant quality Chow Mein. This will surely become your family’s favorite! The other great thing about this dish is that it’s easily customizable!

A great Chow Mein comes down to the sauce which is made with soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar and cornstarch for thickening. Slippery noodles slick with the savory Chow Mein Sauce is noodle heaven! A wok, skillet or large frying pan will do! Something that you can toss everything in with enough space.



Serve: 4 Prep Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 10 mins Total Time: 20 mins

Ingredients:

Chow Mein Sauce

3 tbsp Soy Sauce

1 tbsp Hoisin Sauce

1 1/2 tsp Sugar

1 tsp Vegetable Oil

1 tsp Sriracha (optional)


Stir Fry

300 g Chow Mein Noodles 3 large Garlic cloves, finely chopped

1 medium Shallot, thinly sliced

1 large Carrot, cut into thin strips

1 large Green Bell Pepper, cut into thin strips

1/2 piece White cabbage, shredded

1/2 piece Broccoli, cut into small florets

1 1/2 cups Bean sprouts

4 large Spring Onions, chopped


Garnish

Sesame seeds

Spring Onion Green


Let's get cooking

1. Heat some oil in a wok or pan on high heat. Add the garlic and onion and fry for about 20 seconds, tossing so they don't burn.


2. Add the broccoli and carrot and fry for a further minute or two.


3. Add the pepper, bean sprouts, and cabbage and fry for a couple of minutes. Toss well so they get cooked evenly.


4. Cook noodles according to packet instructions - they made need soaking in water or adding straight to the pan.


5. Add the chow mein sauce and noodles, stir well and serve!


Serve it with chopped spring onion and sesame seeds.
